Organization: Associations/NPOs
|
Associations and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) of various types, in particular those serving educational institutions and the emergency management professions, have begun to take an active interest in the importance of academic continuity. For instance, representatives from several associations participated in the Academic Continuity and Emergency Management workshop at UMUC in June 2007, including the American Distance Education Consortium, EDUCAUSE, the International Association of Emergency Managers, Maryland Emergency Management Association, and the Southern Regional Education Board. As the field of academic continuity evolves, there will be more opportunities for associations and NPOs to work with academic institutions in this area. Another group of associations of particular interest are the six US higher education regional accrediting agencies and the national organization CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation). |
