NLM Report (March 2008): Info-Seeking Behavior of EP&M Professionals

Drs. Murray Turoff and Roxanne Hiltz have completed an inquiry-type study of the
information-seeking behavior and viewpoints of professionals in Emergency Preparedness and Management. The report, Information Seeking Behavior and Viewpoints of Emergency Preparedness and Management professionals concerned with Health and Medicine, is now publicly available:

The report emphasizes the medical and public health area but also covers general concerns. This report to the National Library of Medicine is based upon the inputs from over 30 experts, about 2/3 of which are practitioners and the other 1/3 academics in the application area.

The chief finding is that most professionals are facing information overload, but there are inferred potential solutions in the needs expressed by experts.

The report also contains active links to resource web sites which practitioners in this area reported are the most important and valuable ones for their various activities.
